	Voyager The Insitec Voyager is an at-line instrument designed for manufacturers who need a portable system for troubleshooting and process optimization purposes. It can be moved easily around a facility and interfaces with the process line via quick connect fittings at pre-installed fixed sample points. In powder coating facilities, where several different products are typically produced on around 10 to15 different lines, the Voyager can be justified as a facility resource where the cost for on-line systems for each line may be prohibitive.

	Insitec Insitec is Malvern’s robust and fully integrated on-line particle size analysis system designed to fully meet the requirements of continuous industrial operation. A key issue for analyzer installation on a multiple product powder coating line is cross-contamination. Key features of the Insitec which address this concern are : No dead spots – to reduce areas within the sample transport line where powder can accumulate during a production run Highly polished interiors – to reduce material adherence to interior tubing Automated sampling system – eliminates sources of variability Automated cleaning - air is flushed through the analyzer and sample transport lines to clean out any residual powder between batches. Any arching of powder or plugging can be automatically detected and backflushed without operator intervention. Solvent resistant parts – the use of 316L stainless steel and seals with appropriate chemical compatibility eg PTFE, allows the use of cleaning solvents as required Hygienic fittings – triclamping allows quick line breaks for intensive cleaning

	Sample presentation Powder coatings particles tend to be fragile, soft and cohesive. As appropriate and consistent sample presentation is key for the generation of accurate and relevant particle size data Malvern recommends the use of a coaxial venturi for the dispersion of powder coatings. The coaxial eductor gently disperses the sample and avoids coating and plugging of the sample transport lines.
