Job summary

The company has recently undertaken a technology acquisition in the area of Rheology Systems in order to expand our portfolio of technologies to give us access to new markets. This market is expected to grow considerably in the next few years and provide a basis for a number of exciting new products.

The role is for a Systems Engineer with a background in maths or a physical science with Windows software programming experience that can work comfortably with user interfaces, instrumentation systems and analysis algorithms.

The role involves working with teams of multi-disciplinary scientists and engineers within Product Development, Manufacturing and our supplier base. Good communication and team-working skills are essential, as is the ability to take on a diversity of design and problem solving assignments.

Primary responsibilities

  • Full development of instrumentation systems, software user interfaces, algorithms.
  • Involvement at all stages of the product lifecycle – Applications, Feasibility, Requirements, Analysis, Design, Testing.

Skills and qualifications

Essential

  • Graduate in maths / physical science or equivalent
  • High-technology/scientific background
  • Strong mathematical capability
  • Development of software systems architecture
  • Experience of system modelling / analysis using tools eg. MATLAB, Maple
  • Fluency and experience of object modelling eg. using the UML
  • Experience with MFC and Visual C++ or C# / .net
  • Proven track record in working effectively to project timescales
